18 Months

Mckinley and Mary Elizabeth turned 18months on February 3, 2008. I know I say this about every stage, but I think this stage is my favorite. They are so fun. They are into everything and opinionated. They are true sisters. They love each other so much, yet they can't stand each other at times. Sharing is an issue for us and controlling our anger when we don't get our way. Mary Elizabeth will eat anything that you put in front of her, but Mckinley would rather not eat vegetables. She just now has started eating English Peas. Their favorite food is cheese; they'd rather have cheese than dessert! They love fruit: oranges, apricots, pears, peaches, bananas, grapes, and strawberries. They are not crazy about the texture of rice, but they love pasta. They love hot dogs, pizza, PBJs, and tacos.
They enjoy doing puzzles, having tea parties, coloring, playing with their kitchen, stacking blocks, putting together and taking apart Lego's, feeding and rocking their babies, pushing their strollers and shopping cart around, and walking backwards with their little dog and pelican. They enjoy dancing, running, and climbing. They love to take baths, read, and watch TV. They enjoy watching Curious George, Super Why, and Veggie Tales. They love being outside and cry when they have to come back in.
Mckinley is advanced in her speech and Mary Elizabeth is right on. Mckinley's favorite thing to say is "I too" instead of me too. She came up with that all on her own. They both say no all the time :-). Mary Elizabeth has one two word phrase: "What's that?" She asks that all the time. Mckinley can say "Where's the ball?" and "I got more." They say lots of other things such as: ball, Oh-oh, Daddy, Bye-bye, goodbye, more, Mommy, and Guh-guh. Both girls know their eyes, ears, nose, and mouth and Mckinley can say eyes, nose, and mouth. They're amazing!
We had their 18 month check up today. The doctor was very pleased with them physically and developmentally. They also each got 2 vaccines (one was a combo). They've had nothing but well visits since they were 12 months! Knock on wood! They girls did fairly well with their shots and visit considering it was smack dab in the middle of nap time! I hate having to schedule visits 3 months in advance! Mckinley was cranky, but we got through it.
Mckinley weighs 24lbs 1 oz and is in the 50%ile. She is 31 3/4in tall and is in the 50%ile. Mary Elizabeth weighs 23lbs 8 oz and is in the 40%ile. She is 31 1/2in tall and is in the 45 %ile. Both girls head circumference is 19 in and they are in the 92%ile! It must be their big brains!
I'm so proud of them. They've overcome a lot of obstacles and have come along way for two little preemies! They had a lot of catching up to do, but they've done it! Girls, you rock!
